Granite
Natural stone, every slab unique, genuinely heat-tolerant — set a hot pan down without flinching. Wants sealing about once a year. If seeing the exact slab before it's cut matters to you, granite is where that matters most.
Quartzite

Countertop installation FAQs
The installation itself is one day for most kitchens — tear-out in the morning, new tops set and sealed by the afternoon. The full timeline from signed quote to finished kitchen is usually two to three weeks, because fabrication takes 7–10 days after we template.
Almost always, yes. Cabinets need to be structurally sound and level enough to shim, which we check at the free measure. Where older base cabinets were built for a lightweight laminate deck and can’t carry 3cm stone, we can reinforce them as part of the same job — a fabrication shop would have to stop and send you elsewhere.
Installation is fitting tops into new or reconfigured cabinets — we template once the boxes are set and level. Renovation is replacing the surface on cabinets you’re keeping, where most of the work is underneath: settled cabinets, stubborn tear-out, and plumbing that has to come apart and go back the same day. We quote both as one finished job.
Someone should be there for the template appointment and at the start of install day so we can confirm sink placement, overhangs and seam location with you. After that you’re free to come and go.
If your run is longer than a slab, yes — physics, not workmanship. What varies is where it lands and how well it’s bonded. We plan seam placement with you during templating and colour-match the bonding adhesive so it reads as a line, not a gap.
Yes — both, in-house on install day. This is the single most common gap in countertop quotes from stone yards: the tops go in and the sink stays disconnected until you find a plumber. For undermount sinks the sink is mounted before the top goes down, so plan on the kitchen sink being out of service for the day.
Yes, and we’d recommend it. Backsplash tile chosen and set by the same crew that installed your counters comes out colour-matched and correctly scribed to the stone. Booking it separately usually means a gap of weeks and a grout line that doesn’t quite land where you wanted.
